Patrick Watt’s law practice has been constantly evolving to serve client’s interests and needs and has largely involved civil litigation and litigation prevention. Since 1989 Patrick has litigated a wide variety of property and easement and subdivision disputes, water rights, insurance defense/coverage/ bad faith claims, estate and probate disputes, partnership and business disputes, personal injury and tort claims and defenses, construction and defect claims, oil/gas/mineral leases and disputes, contract claims, discrimination and employment defense, educational law, housing law, as well as complex multiparty litigation and environmental insurance issues and administrative law. Patrick also has served as an arbitrator and mediator on occasion and advises various businesses, entities, and organizations on an ongoing basis regarding a multitude of legal issues. Patrick’s litigation practice includes jury trials, administrative hearings, and appeals.

Patrick is admitted to the Montana Supreme Court, the Federal District Court for the State of Montana, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He has also practiced before the Montana Water Court, the Montana Human Rights Commission, the Montana Department of Labor and Industries, as well as various other Montana and federal administrative boards and panels.

Obtaining his JD with Honors from the University of Montana, Patrick served as an Editor and the Business Manager for the Montana Law Review. Patrick obtained his BS degree at Montana State University with a Business Marketing and Distributive Education emphasis. At MSU Patrick was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho (AGR) Fraternity, won the heavy weight intramural arm wrestling championship, was a Student Senator, Orientation Leader, and was presented the highest senior service award given by MSU.

In addition to other volunteer organizations, Patrick served several terms on the Our Lady of Lourdes School Board and in various positions for Boy Scout Troop 7. Patrick spent many years coaching youth and junior high basketball and football and is a retired member of the Montana Coaches Association. Patrick enjoys the out of doors whether hunting, fishing or simply watching the ever changing Montana sky.
